Among the victims are a police officer and the two perpetrators who were behind the act. Two more police officers and a private person who were outside the store were injured in the shooting, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
According to the New York Times, the shooting started when a police officer wanted to talk to one of the perpetrators about another case and then was shot. The perpetrators fled in a van, stopped outside a supermarket and began firing at the chasing police. The gunfire lasted for over an hour.
