Russia, Turkey and Iran said, after talks in Kazakhstan, that they are concerned about the increasing presence of terrorist groups in Idlib province in Syria, and pledged to coordinate to eliminate militants.

The three countries said in a joint statement after the talks that Moscow, Ankara and Tehran "stress the necessity of establishing calm on the ground." Representatives of the Syrian government and the armed opposition also participated in the talks.

The three countries also stated that they reject attempts to create "a new reality on the ground, including illegal self-government initiatives."
