Putin noted that attempts to distort the historical truth about World War II are not stopping.

“The recent resolution of the European Parliament actually put the Nazi aggressors on the same level, and the Soviet Union almost accuses the USSR, along with Nazi Germany, of unleashing the Second World War, as if they forgot who attacked Poland on September 1, 1939 and the Soviet Union 22 June 1941, ”said the Russian leader.

At the same time, Putin emphasized that those who are trying to argue with such an assessment are accused of "an information war against a democratic Europe."

In this regard, the President of Russia called for continuing to publish archival materials about the events of the Second World War to protect the truth about it.

“Our answer to the lie is the truth. We will continue to talk about events and facts of the Great Patriotic War, to disclose and publish archival materials in their entirety, otherwise it seems that some of our opponents either cannot read or write ... as if they don’t know anything, ” he stressed.

Putin said that Russia will continue to talk about the victories and defeats of the Red Army, the tragedy of the prisoners, the Holocaust, as well as the crimes of nationalists and violence against civilians.

“There are no and cannot be unprofitable, inconvenient pages in history. Together, we need it as a single whole for us and for future generations, ”concluded the Russian leader.

Earlier, Foreign Ministers of 11 states called for the preservation of the historical truth about the Second World War.

The NSN also reported that 2020 was declared the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia.
