“Sentence Vershinin by partial addition of the sentence to 17 years in a maximum security penal colony with one-year restriction of freedom,” the judge read out the verdict.

According to the indictment, Vershinin was a member of the “People’s Militia named after Minin and Pozharsky” created by Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov *, whose goals were aimed at overthrowing the constitutional system through armed rebellion.

In August 2017, the ex-colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) Vladimir Kvachkov was sentenced to a maximum security colony in the case of an extremist video message.

On February 7, 2019, the court decided to release Kvachkov in connection with the partial decriminalization of an article on extremism.

“The People’s Militia named after K. Minin and D. Pozharsky” is an unregistered All-Russian public movement recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia (decision of the Moscow City Court dated 02/18/2015).
