The Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai in its meeting yesterday, headed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Council, and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, approved a package of initiatives Improvement to develop the health insurance system in Dubai, with the aim of simplifying and unifying government health insurance programs, and raising the operational efficiency of government hospitals in the emirate, in addition to adopting the council’s agenda and topics that will shape its agenda during 2020, at the council’s headquarters in the Emirates Towers.

His Highness said in tweets on "Twitter": "We have adopted a package of initiatives aimed at improving the health insurance system and unifying government health insurance programs, with the aim of providing leading medical services to citizens and residents in Dubai."

He added, “During the meeting, we adopted the Executive Council’s agenda and the topics that will shape its agenda during the year 2020, and a total of 30 topics, representing priorities for the Dubai government to advance development and government services and achieve community happiness.”

And His Highness continued, "We look forward to the next year being an exceptional stop in Dubai's success story. In this year, we will host the world in (Expo 2020), and all government and private entities in Dubai must make their best efforts and work with the spirit of one team to impress the world in 2020."

During the meeting, the Dubai Health Authority reviewed the evaluation of the health insurance system in the emirate, and the proposed improvement initiatives, which would enhance complementarity and linkage between healthcare providers and promote health education and appropriate patient orientation.

Initiatives include unifying health insurance programs, updating the scope of the unified health insurance to include some special groups in society, and enhancing the efficiency of government hospitals affiliated with the authority.

The initiatives also include updates to the generic medicine policy and sick leave, with the aim of creating a positive impact on health care outcomes and achieving health outcomes themselves more effectively and at a lower cost, reducing unnecessary medical consultations and excessive use of health services, as well as achieving fair competition between health service providers in the two sectors Governmental and private.

His Highness the Crown Prince of Dubai adopted the agenda of the Executive Council and the Strategic Affairs Council for 2020, which includes many topics, plans and strategies that contribute to implementing and embodying the vision of leadership aimed at achieving excellence in all sectors, and creating solutions and initiatives to develop services in order to achieve the goals that entrench The leadership position of the Emirate, and achieving the happiness and welfare of society.
