Closure of a famous restaurant in Abu Dhabi for "lack of hygiene and poor food storage"

Today, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority closed the "La Veranda" restaurant in the building of the Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel in Abu Dhabi, in violation of Law No. 2 of 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the legislation issued pursuant to it, as well as due to its seriousness to public health.



Today, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority closed the "La Veranda" restaurant in the building of the Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel in Abu Dhabi, in violation of Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the legislation issued pursuant to it, as well as due to its danger to public health.

The authority clarified that the food control report stated that the administrative closure decision came as a result of the establishment's failure to implement the health and food safety standards and requirements, and the failure to maintain the health level of the facility, which may affect the level of food safety and consumer health, indicating that the closure order was preceded by directing a number of violations against This facility during the current year 2019.

The Authority confirmed that the administrative closure order will continue as long as its causes exist, as activity can be allowed to start again after correcting the conditions of the facility and meeting all the necessary requirements, and removing them for the reasons of violations, stating that the most prominent violations that were monitored in the facility were to repeat violations related to not providing the food card for dry food In the dry warehouse and the low level of hygiene of the tools used to prepare and not provide cleaning records, in addition to keeping ready-to-eat foods at inappropriate temperatures and other wrong practices, explaining that 4 violations were committed to the facility's right to Breyer, March and December this year.

The authority indicated that the closure and the detection of the observed violations are part of the inspection efforts of the authority to enhance the pillars of food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and as confirmation of them at the level of strict control applied by the inspectors, noting that all establishments of different nature and food products are subject to their periodic inspection tours aimed at Ensure that it complies with all food safety requirements.

The Authority appealed to the public to communicate with the Authority and report any violations monitored in any food establishment from non-compliance or suspicion of the contents of the foodstuff by calling the toll-free number for the Abu Dhabi Government 800555 so that the inspectors of the Authority take the necessary action to reach a safe and sound food for all members of society in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
