The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem Shlomo Moshe Ammar visited Bahrain in recent days, at the special invitation of the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to attend a conference on interfaith dialogue hosted by Manama under the auspices and coordination of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and under strict security protection.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry added that Rabbi Ammar met yesterday, Monday, the King of Bahrain, and the seventh Israeli channel reported that Ammar met at the conference clerics from several countries, including Arab countries that do not have official relations with Israel.

The channel added, according to Ammar, that the people of the Middle East want peace with Israel, and that leaders should push in this direction.

And the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted Rabbi Ammar as saying that he "hopes that the citizens of both Israel and Bahrain can visit the other country without the need for special coordination."

The commission noted that the visit of Bahrain's chief rabbi to occupied Jerusalem was coordinated by Israeli-American political parties.
