- I really regret if an employee is allowed to leave after this type of call and in a way does not understand what it is about, says Rolf Bakken, Flight Manager at SAS.

When SVT first contacted SAS with the information that people were allowed to leave the company after using the safety valve "unfit for flight", the company called the issue "absurd". However, following SVT's review and in conjunction with several of the company's own trade unions confirming the problem, the tone changed gradually.

Have made an action plan

Following SVT's review, the Swedish Transport Agency initiated a supervisory case against the company - and now they have the result.

The authority has found a number of serious deficiencies linked to the company's handling of the case of "Johan" - who secretly recorded his last meeting with his managers at SAS.

Is there something in this case that you see differently today?

- We need to get better at this type of conversation. Both on documenting and on managing them. There we now have an action plan, says Rolf Bakken.

"About air safety"

But in the basic question, whether "Johan" was wrongly left the company, the company still stuck to its version.

- I think we can get better at communicating so that the employee does not feel that the picture he is getting is different from the reality. This is about aviation safety and an employee who has not worked.
