Torbjörn Skytt is a researcher at Mid Sweden University and together with two colleagues he has recently published a study on Jämtland's climate impact. And it shows that the county has a cooling effect.

- It is thanks to our friends the trees, says Torbjörn Skytt

In the clip above he tells how the forest works.

In this study it became clear what the important role of the forest is in our climate.

- Therefore, we need to have a lot of knowledge about how to use the forest to get the best possible effect from the purely climatic. For it is probably also the cheapest way to affect the balance of carbon flows in the world.

Hurry slowly

In the study, researchers point out how important it is to speed slowly. To put everything into a time perspective to best utilize the natural processes of the forest and nature.

- Take biofuels, for example. It is better than fossil fuels but if we start cutting down all trees to create biofuels then it will have long-term effects. Then for a long time we will have no trees that capture the carbon dioxide.

Consumption must decrease

The forest is thus important in the climate issue. But ultimately, we are individuals who cause carbon dioxide emissions.

- Unfortunately, we non-residents are no better than anyone else, says Torbjörn Skytt and continues:

- We have a high level of consumption and high energy consumption. And unfortunately, both of these things are directly linked to carbon dioxide emissions.

Our consumption is thus a crucial aspect when it comes to climate impact. At the same time, we humans cannot stop living, says Torbjörn Skytt.

- We are a burden to nature and we must accept that. But if we do a little less, we emit a little less carbon dioxide.
