The court of Sidi Mohamed in the Algerian capital today, Tuesday, imprisoned ex-prime ministers Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdel-Malik Sallal, respectively, with 15 and 12 years in effect in cases related to corruption and covert financing of the campaign of the outgoing president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

During the trial, which the Algerian media described as "historical", the session judge ordered the seizure of all Ouyahia's baskets and properties, with the first fined 20 thousand dollars, and the second 10 thousand.

The judge also sentenced 20 years in prison in absentia to former Minister of Industry Abdelsalam Bouchourb, with an international arrest warrant issued against him.

Whereas, Youssef Youssefi and Mahjoub Bida, the two former ministers of industry, were sentenced to 10 years in prison, with each fining $ 10,000.

The court sentenced the prison to five years in prison for Nuria Yamina Zerhouni, the former minister and governor.

The court acquitted the Minister of Transport and Public Works Abd al-Ghani Za`lan of the charge of hidden financing for the electoral campaign for Bouteflika.

The judge pronounced various rulings against other defendants, including a number of businessmen.

Defendants have the right to appeal the verdicts of their sentences within 10 days with the Supreme Court.

It is noteworthy that the Public Prosecutor had sought 20 years in prison and a fine of 10 thousand dollars against each of Ouyahia and Sallal, and Bouchareb with an international arrest warrant for him, 15 years in prison against Youssef Youssef and Mahgoub Bidah, and 10 years in prison against Abdel The rich are upset and Nuria Yamina Zerhouni.

The defendants pursue several charges, including abuse of position, illicit richness, squandering public funds, granting unpaid entitlements, bribery, money laundering, and hidden financing for the electoral campaign for Bouteflika and the parties.
