Jan-Owe Wikström, a journalist at Hallandsposten, says that it was uncertain how the artist measured since she retired. He remembers when she became a solo artist, her breakthrough with Roxette and her way back to music after she got a brain tumor in 2002.

- The suites from the disease were still there, but it gave her life force to be on stage and gave her energy to go on a world tour, says Jan-Owe Wikström.

A large part of Halmstad's music life

In 1992, Jan-Owe Wikström, together with Larz Lundgren, released the book Roxette: the book. Later he has written several books on Golden Times. During the journey he has been touring Europe and describes Marie Fredriksson as a major part of Halmstad's music life.

- Not least, I remember when she premiered on her solo tour in Halmstad. At the after party we were told by Olof Palme that he was dead. It went from being a premiere party to being a shock to everyone. Marie closed down immediately and said the party was over.

"The real star of Roxette"

He describes Marie Fredriksson as a broad artist with many expressions and roles.

- She could sing jazz and songs in Swedish, and then be the real star in Roxette, says Jan-Owe Wikström.

Marie Fredriksson turned 61 years old.
