The second day of the appeal trial of Teodorin Obiang, Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, in the "ill-gotten property" case, ended on Tuesday (December 10th). Since the witnesses were unable to appear because of transport problems due to the strike, this hearing was once again essentially devoted to procedural matters.

A single word in the hundreds of pages of a 12-year procedure can potentially weigh heavily. Among the points she raised, the defense denounced a problem of conformity between the facts alleged against Teodorin Obiang during his indictment and those for which he is prosecuted, all because of a word, the adverb "In particular ", absent from the indictment and present in the order for reference.

A small difference but important, because the defense has made the basis of an argument to exclude from the procedure nearly 110 million euros paid , according to the survey, the Equatorial Guinean Treasury on the personal account of Teodorin Obiang. An artificial and erroneous argument according to the prosecution and civil party, but given the stake, this " particular " has sparked heated debate.

A first time, the president made a call to order when the defense punctuated several " you tell anything " a presentation of Mr. Bourdon, the lawyer of Transparency International. A little later, another statement by Master Bourdon, who noted " the manipulation of jurisprudence, hand on heart, is an old rhetoric, " jumped one of the defense lawyers.

" I do not accept being insulted and qualified as manipulative " indignant Master Marembert. " It was a general remark, " replied Mr. Bourdon before raising the tone : "I have no lesson to receive from people who accused me of having participated in a coup d'etat at first instance " he exclaimed. A parade interrupted by the president: " I'm not a schoolmaster ," he said, threatening to crack down.
