Since 2010, the School Inspectorate has revoked the permit for a total of 27 schools. Probably the Safir School, formerly the Science School, is the largest with its 450 students.

According to Bengt Frändén, the city has been prepared for the school to lose its state.

- When we got the information at lunch today (Monday, red note) we immediately sat down and looked at how we can arrange a good schooling for everyone and as smooth a transition as possible. We will solve that.

"Relief and frustration over the decision"

School Municipal Councilor Helene Odenjung (L) expresses relief at the School Inspectorate's decision, but frustration that it has taken so long.

- We have for a long time appealed to the School Inspectorate for it to close the school. There have been quality deficiencies and we have also been reached by the information that the police had. Now, the School Inspectorate writes in the decision about what we were worried about, namely that there is a significant risk of students being affected. It's very serious, she says.

Helene Odenjung would like the School Inspectorate to have a greater mandate to close free schools:

- If a school has re-established deficiencies, it should be possible to withdraw the permit without much motivation, she says.
