A private person discovered the suspicious object at a pizzeria in Eksjö city and alerted police at 03 am the night before Monday.

"We went there and blocked off," says Monica Bergström, spokesperson for the police in the East region.

Police suspected that the object could be explosive, and the National Bomb Guard was called in. At 07 o'clock on Monday, the bomb guard was in place and set up barricades in and around the pizzeria and at the nearby cemetery. At the same time, nearby properties were evacuated from housing.

Red colored object

SVT was there to see how the bombing robot examined the object. Shortly thereafter, the object was found to be sharpened, and the barriers were further extended.

Shortly after nine o'clock the police announced that the object had been disarmed. Exactly what it was you do not want to go into.

- The object lay on the windowsill of the pizzeria. It was red and had the shape of a larger polka bean pig, told SVT's reporter on the spot.

Monica Bergström states that she does not know of any direct threat to the pizzeria, and that it is too early to comment on a possible motive.

Can you say how long this will last?

"No, it doesn't," she says.

The barriers were removed just before 10 o'clock after a forensic examination was carried out. There is currently no suspect.
