Major General Abdul Rahman al-Sadiq al-Mahdi admitted the error of accepting the post of ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

In a statement in which he apologized to the Sudanese people, Abdul Rahman, who is the son of Sadiq al-Mahdi, the last democratically elected Prime Minister in Sudan and leader of the National Umma Party, said, “I admit the mistake of accepting the position in a regime that overthrew democratic legitimacy and committed grievances that I once had among its victims.”

Mahdi’s son added in the statement of apology, “I hope that my intention will be a cover for God’s forgiveness for me, and that my apology is acceptable to the people. I am ready to accept any legal accountability, and I advise others to do so and avoid opposing the will of the people who triggered the revolution.”

And the son of Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi added, "It must be recognized that the revolution, which I was one of its units when it broke out, found me in the wrong camp."

Abdel-Rahman called on the rescue coup plotters or those who participated in the previous regime to recognize the error of the coup against democracy and the mistake of inclusiveness and the abuses and spoilers committed in its shadow, and that the people of the south, Darfur, the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile, and all states of Sudan have been declared grievances, and to declare their readiness to accept any legal questions Stressing that, at the outbreak of the December revolution, it was not advisable to jump from the sunken boat and offend its passengers from yesterday's allies.

"I was not unaware of the consequences of participating in a system that governs the arrest of iron, and I opposed it, and I know that most sectors of the people oppose it," Major General Abdul Rahman said in a confession of the error.

It should be noted that Abd al-Rahman was a member of the Umma Party, but he resigned from the party in 2010 after being reinstated in the army and then appointed as assistant to al-Bashir in 2011.
