A group of activists No Tav, hooded, threw down the fence placed by the police to block the path that leads from the town of Giaglione to the construction site of the Turin-Lyon Chiomonte. There was a stone throw and the police responded with the launch of some tear gas. A long applause started when the protesters started to cross the fence. Forcing the gate, the No TAVs have thus violated the red zone around the Chiomonte construction site, a strip of respect between woods, meadows, paths and carriage roads where it is forbidden to set foot.

"We have restored legality, this is a francophone road, the ancient via delle Gallie - an exponent of the movement claims - that was illegally closed". However, the gate is only the first barrier along the paths leading to the construction site.

300 protesters then stopped at the bridge over the Clarea stream, where the road is blocked by a metal grate and a device of police officers in riot gear. Others have taken a side path with the goal of getting as close as possible to the yard's fences. In over a hundred they have reached an area near the construction site fences, under the viaduct of the Turin-Bardonecchia motorway. The demonstrators gathered in garrison. Tear gas bombs were fired from the front guarded by the police to prevent attempts to damage the networks.

Firecrackers and paper bombs to the police
Large firecrackers and paper bombs have been thrown at the police who are guarding the site. The episode occurred in a wooded area upstream of the Clarea stream. A thick blanket of smoke rises from the mountainside.

Leader No Tav to the 5s: you sold us, stop teasing
"You sold us, like all the others. Don't make fun of us: in one year you never once said No Tav". Thus Alberto Perino, historic leader No Tav, on the sidelines of the event. "What bothers us is that gentlemen like Castelli, like Di Maio, like Carabetta, like others do incredible press releases where they say they are ultra No Tav. You sold us, don't tease us - he repeats -. Now what? "it's nothing new under the sun".

48 reported
Quarantotto No Tav, including members of the Askatasuna social center in Turin, have meanwhile been reported. Some of them for having demolished the gate to protect the paths that lead to the construction site, and for the tensions of this afternoon. Among these there is also a national leader of the No Tav movement who took an active part in the demolition of the gate and a leader of Askatasuna. Others have been reported for violating the red zone.

Questura Torino: directing social centers behind unrest, no one has approached the construction site area
The disorders of this afternoon in the Susa Valley are to be attributed "to the almost exclusive direction of the well-known exponents of some self-managed social centers of Turin". This was stated by the Turin Police Headquarters. "For those who had the responsibility of managing public order - a note states - the No Tav demonstration ended with an absolutely positive balance". "While operating in difficult terrain and made insidious by the rain - continues the Turin Police Headquarters - both the organizers of the event and the police officers have faced the difficult management of the event with great sense of responsibility", which has not seen any moment of direct confrontation 'melee'.

Some troublemakers forced a protective gate - it is the reconstruction of what happened at the police station - even using flexible and hydroelectric flames, but no demonstrator managed to get close to the site area ".

Salvini: "The Tav will be done and no tolerance for the hooligans"
"46 reported, almost all belonging to the social centers for the attacks of today with paper bombs, shears, hammers and stones to the No Tav procession, which was answered with the use of hydrants and about 200 tear gas. I thank you in the name of all Italians the hundreds of women and men of the Police Forces who have avoided injuries (with the exception of a policeman) and serious incidents, guaranteeing freedom of demonstration to all. There will be no tolerance for thugs and delinquents. it will not be back, "said the Minister of the Interior.

The protesters would be several thousand, some of which belong to the antagonist galaxy and come from social centers throughout Italy. "Peoples in revolt write the story no Tav up to victory", the slogan of the protesters.

The departure from Venaus
The No Tav had headed this morning to the Chiomonte construction site, after meeting at the Venaus garrison they set off towards the town of Giaglione. The declared objective, as one speaker had said, was precisely to arrive at the construction site and violate the red zone traced by the ordinances of the prefecture. "The valley that resists - No tav", this reads the banner at the head of the march. And then slogans such as "The peoples in revolt write the story No tav to victory" and "Giù le mani dal Val di Susa".

Subsequently, the procession was divided into two sections. Immediately after the built-up area of Giaglione a part of it had taken the paths that climb up the side of a mountain. The rest had preferred to remain on the main thoroughfare. The protesters are a few thousand. One speaker said 'we are 15000'.

Hundreds of agents have already been deployed in the morning. The Quaestor of Turin spoke of a great demonstration at national level with a massive participation of social centers. "Peaceful and determined", this is how the mood of the No Tav defines a 74-year-old historical activist like Guido Fissore. "Here - he says - we are not talking about storming the Winter Palace or doing something. We want to go to the construction site. And if they stop us, we will try to go there anyway."

Italy sends the letter to the EU agency: green light for the project
Meanwhile, a letter was sent with which Italy declares its intention to go ahead on the Tav project in response to the request made to Rome and Paris by INEA, the agency for innovation and infrastructural networks of the European Commission which had requested to Italy and France to rule by July 26 on the Turin-Lyon high-speed line. The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, confirmed the arrival of the letter.

The letter from the Ministry of Transport with which # Italia undertakes to complete the #Tav has arrived at the EU #.
Good news, as well as respect for commitments with # Europe.

- David Sassoli (@DavidSassoli) July 27, 2019

The letter was prepared by a department of MIT (land development, planning and international projects), in agreement with the Palazzo Chigi secretariat. But Minister Danilo Toninelli would not have signed it. A symbolic act, because in any case the government said yes. Brussels sources note that the document was noted, such as the minister's signature was not necessary.

Toninelli: "Tired of talking about it, I have already expressed"
"Frankly, I was rather tired of talking about it, on the Tav I have already expressed myself," Transport Minister Danilo Toninelli said yesterday, when asked about this on the sidelines of an initiative on electric mobility in Cattolica, in Rimini. And speaking of the manifestation of the No Tav he added: "All the demonstrations are right. To declare one's own opinion of opposition or favor on a work is perfectly fine, obviously the hope is that no act of violence is mentioned."

M5S: motion in the Senate for no
"Yesterday in the Senate the motion of the Movement was filed which commits Parliament to block the realization of the TAV. The premier made it clear that only the Parliament could adopt a unilateral decision to stop the TAV. Well, who wants to put the face and the signing on a completely useless infrastructure, he must do it inside the Parliament. Who wants to give Macron a gift, say Yes to the Tav ". It reads on the Blog of the Stars. "Black on white, this is the position of the M5s. No to old, useless and harmful projects".

Di Maio: no gifts to Macron
"We will not give up! We are thinking of the country, we are not giving gifts to Macron", the leader M5S Luigi Di Maio writes in huge letters on Facebook. The vice premier relaunches the link to the pentastellata motion for the no to the Tav.

League: gift to Macron? 5Stelle and Pd did it
"The only gift to Macron was made by 5Stelle and PD by voting for the president of the European Commission decided in Paris and Berlin. Whoever says No to the Tav says no to the future, to progress and to work, is out of the world". Thus a note from the League.
