A parliamentary report issued by the Federal National Council confirmed that those responsible for the proliferation of hormones are trainers working in gyms, pointing out that they provide recipes for the hall folk, without having licenses from the concerned authorities.

He criticized what he described as the "indiscriminate granting of sports halls licenses in the various emirates of the state," calling for the unification of licensing terms for these halls, as they serve citizens and residents throughout the country.

The report - which Emirates Today obtained a copy of - stated that gyms are spread randomly everywhere, on rooftops and in industrial areas, explaining that this randomness caused the spread of wrong practices, regarding the use of nutritional supplements without consulting specialists, and without Quality control and source.

He stated that among the nutritional supplements that are promoted inside gyms, types of hormones are provided by recipes from trainers, stressing the importance of qualifying and licensing gym trainers, and stressing not to promote these products of unknown source.

The report called for the intensification of oversight on the performance of gyms, and the unification of food supplements of all kinds, especially in light of the state’s keenness and encouragement to increase exercise in society, to achieve the slogan of sport as a way of life.

The report ended with a parliamentary recommendation (adopted by the Federal National Council and submitted to the government), stipulating the activation of the monitoring mechanism between the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the relevant local bodies, for oversight, licensing of trainers, and inspection of nutritional supplements in sports halls, and tougher penalties if any materials or supplements are used Nutritional unless authorized.

The report included a response from the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, during which it stated that the file of nutritional supplements is one of the cross-cutting files, in terms of the authorities concerned with it, between the ministries of health and community protection and the economy and municipalities, noting that the ministry was mandated by the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection to prepare a study on ways to deal with supplements Food, and its handling mechanisms, have already been completed and submitted to the Council of Ministers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy. The report pointed out that the Ministry of Health and Community Protection operates according to the specific scope guaranteed by the law in this regard, since municipal departments are the most competent to register types of nutritional supplements, which do not have any medical claims, while the Ministry of Health is concerned with registering the types that have a medical claim.
