A man was seriously injured in a villa fire on August 4 earlier this year. But things could have been much worse if Hanna Perzon and Erik Hellberg had not gone by the house with their family early in the morning.

- We saw the flames and ran in to see if anyone was in the house. We heard a scream and managed to pull a man out of the house, says Hanna Perzon.

When the rescue service arrived at the scene, the villa was completely overcrowded and could not be salvaged.

- Without them, the man probably wouldn't have managed. He got help out and it probably saved his life. He had drawn in a lot of smoke and burned his arms, said interim leader Peter Nystedt afterwards to SVT Gävleborg.

Receives medal from the police

This week, the couple's efforts were also noticed by the police and they were each awarded citizen medals for "a resolute intervention that most likely saved the man's life"

But was the effort the ultimate party test when it comes to collaboration? Hear what the couple has to say about it in the video above.
