Sources from the forces affiliated with the Libyan Accordance Government said that the commander of the war plane, who was captured after his plane crashed south of the city of Zawiya, west of Tripoli, yesterday, Saturday, is Major General Amer al-Jakam al-Urfi of the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hafter.

The sources said that Al-Urfi carried out most of the raids that took place in the recent period from the Al-Wattia base in western Libya.

For its part, Haftar's forces confirmed that they had lost contact with a warplane, and said that it had crashed near the city of Zawiya, and that they later learned that its commander, Major General Amer al-Urfi, had been captured.

"We announce the loss of contact with one of the MiG-23 combat aircraft after they carry out combat missions," said Haftar Forces spokesman Major General Ahmed al-Mismari in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

He confirmed that shortly after, Major General Amer al-Arfi appeared in the grip of what he described as terrorists from the city of Zawiya, adding that "the cause of the plane crashing was a technical failure, which led to the pilot leaving the plane, landing in the parachute on the enemy's land and his families, and treating him badly in violation of the terms of the Geneva Convention of Prisoners of War , Blaming the international community for "the responsibility of this behavior" by the forces of the reconciliation government.

The forces of the "Anger Volcano" operation affiliated with the Al-Wefaq government announced on their Facebook page on Saturday night that they had succeeded in "shooting down a MiG-23 warplane, the rebel war criminal Haftar."

She added that the plane "landed in the south of Zawiya after targeting it in the sky of the Yarmouk axis" south of Tripoli. The city of Zawiya is 45 km west of Tripoli, and it is under the control of the Al-Wefaq government.

Operation "Anger Volcano" forces confirmed the arrest of the pilot after parachuting, and also posted a video clip showing a plane plunging from the sky and thick smoke billowing from it.

It also published pictures showing the pilot and the wreckage of the plane, which had come up in flames in an agricultural area.

Social media circulated pictures showing the pilot in uniform, who is in the grip of his captors, inside what appeared to be the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior in the Al-Wefaq government in the city of Zawiya.
