Swedish women and children have been smuggled out of a Syrian camp for IS prisoners, thus citing a source for SVT. The aim should have been to try to get to Sweden.

About a month ago, about 25 Europeans fled from the al-Hol refugee camp in northeastern Syria. Some of these were Swedish women with children, but exactly how many are still unclear. The operation has been carefully planned with relatives who should have paid the smugglers, says a source with transparency to SVT.

The women's purpose with the escape should have been to try to get to Sweden. According to reports to SVT, one of the Swedish women must have succeeded in getting out and is still on the loose, while the others disappeared along the way. It is suspected that they may have been arrested by the Syrian army.

SVT's Stina Blomgren comments on the recent developments in the clip above.
