More than 35 people were killed in massive fires Monday morning in the Indian capital, New Delhi. Local media and foreign media reported.

Reportedly, a big fire broke out at a plant in Sardar Bazaar, a traditional market in northern New Delhi, around 5 am Wednesday.

Police officials say more than 35 people were killed in the fire, including workers who slept in the factory.

56 people were rescued and more than 20 were injured in the hospital.

Rescue authorities put more than 30 fire trucks on site right after the fire.

But many people are still trapped inside the building, and the number of casualties is likely to increase, local media said.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.
