“In the Vietnamese port of Camran, the active part of the first Russian-Vietnamese exercise to assist an emergency submarine lying on the ground was completed,” the press release said.

Russia was represented by the Pacific Fleet rescue ship Igor Belousov with the AS-40 deep-sea manned vehicle, and a project 636 Navy submarine participated in the exercises from Vietnam.

“The crew of the AS-40 Pacific Fleet deep-sea manned vehicle immersed, during which they searched at the depth of the layout of the coaming site of the submarine, and the Vietnamese Navy submarines completed the task of leaving the conditionally emergency diesel submarine through torpedo tubes,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

The exercises were aimed at developing a unified approach to rescue operations for a more effective response in case of emergency situations on submarines and ships.
