The UN “Crime Prevention Criminal Justice Council”, where relevant ministers from various countries discuss international crime countermeasures, is held once every five years, and the next meeting will be held in Kyoto next April.

A symposium was held in Kyoto City on the 7th with interest from the general public regarding recidivism prevention and rehabilitation support, one of the main themes of the conference. In this, Minister of Justice Mori stated, “An effort to prevent recidivism and a culture of legal compliance that supports it are extremely important in realizing a society in which no one is left behind.”

Next, a panel discussion was held, and volunteer groups and companies involved introduced activities such as creating a place for rehabilitation and employment support. Against the background of recidivism, issues such as poverty that were difficult to solve by themselves alone. I often pointed out that I needed a support system in the region.

The Ministry of Justice plans to hold a symposium in March next year and wants to increase the momentum for the first successful meeting in Japan for 50 years.
