May 24, 2016 A taxi driver killed a merchant in Rome last night and was later arrested by the carabinieri. The attack took place in Via Premuda, in the Prati district, where the owner of a room at number 17 was repeatedly hit with a bottle in the head by the taxi driver. Relief, the 76-year-old man was transported to the Santo Spirito hospital, where he died from severe concussion. The murderer, 33 years old and of South American origins, was stopped by the carabinieri at the wheel of his taxi and appeared to be drunk.

Nino Sorrentino, this is the victim's name, ran a wine and oil store in the Trionfale district, where the aggressor, Joelson Bernasconi, came in armed with a broken bottle and hit him several times before fleeing. Bernasconi was tracked down by the carabinieri of the Trionfale company operating unit an hour later. He was aboard his taxi and in an attempt to escape he hit a policeman injuring him slightly. The man was taken to the Regina Coeli prison.

The dynamics of the murder are still unclear: according to one of the first hypotheses, a discussion would have arisen because the manager refused to serve alcohol to the drunk customer. According to what has been learned, at that time there were no witnesses in the room. Some residents who heard the screams raised the alarm. The elderly, hospitalized in very serious conditions, gave some information that allowed the military to block the alleged perpetrator. Reportedly, the man was drunk and still covered in blood.
