About one million Algerians residing abroad continue to cast their votes in the upcoming presidential elections, and voting abroad continues until next Thursday, December 12th, when voting begins at home.

The Independent National Elections Authority, which supervises this entitlement from start to finish, confirmed that all measures have been taken to ensure that the elections are conducted "with integrity and in the best conditions".

According to the figures announced by the Independent Electoral Authority in Algeria, the total number of overseas voters is about 914,000, distributed among 60 polling centers and 395 polling offices, and the number of electoral committees for electoral districts in consulates and diplomatic missions is 114.

Five candidates are competing in these elections, namely, Izz al-Din Mihoubi, Acting Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally Party, Abd al-Qadir bin Qurainah, President of the National Construction Movement, and former Prime Minister Abdel Majeed Tabun, Ali bin Falis, head of the Tala’a Al-Hurriyat Party, and Abdelaziz Belaid, head of the Front Party the future.

Peaceful marches
Meanwhile, some Algerian cities have witnessed peaceful rallies in support of the presidential elections, as well as denouncing foreign interference in Algerian affairs.

The participants in the marches chanted slogans in support of the elections on schedule and expressed support for the military.

In the context, the Justice and Development Front party affiliated with the Islamic trend in Algeria announced its boycott of the elections, stressing that its duty is to "ditch with the Algerian people, respond to its demands and preserve its unity."

The party said in a statement today, Saturday, that it recorded the lack of conditions and guarantees that must be fulfilled to conduct free and fair elections through the establishment of the independent election authority outside the political consensus and national consensus.
