"It goes without saying that François Bayrou remains president of the MoDem and mayor of Pau, said the chairman of the group of MoDem MPs Patrick Mignola, assuring his support" unwavering "the party boss, indicted Friday in the the case of MEPs' assistants.

Bayrou was indicted Friday in Paris for complicity in embezzlement of public funds in the survey of assistants of MoDem MEPs, lawsuits that could weaken his position in the presidential majority.

Prior to the indictment, Stanislas Guerini, General Delegate of LREM, had said his "confidence" and "admiration" in Mr. Bayrou, who "devoted a good part of his political life to advance the issue of probity in The political life".
