"Bayrou maker of kings ... cursed in his turn", abounded on Twitter the LR deputy of Bouches-du-Rhone Valerie Boyer, mocking "Bayrou self-proclaimed pope of virtue".
Bayrou was indicted Friday in Paris for complicity in embezzlement of public funds in the survey of assistants of MoDem MEPs, lawsuits that could weaken his position in the presidential majority.
Prior to the indictment, Stanislas Guerini, General Delegate of LREM, had said his "confidence" and "admiration" in Mr. Bayrou, who "devoted a good part of his political life to advance the issue of probity in The political life".
