Sailboats will follow the route as close as possible to that made 200 years ago by Russian sailors under the command of Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev.
In March, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on a round-the-world expedition of sailing ships in 2019-2020, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by the Russian expedition of Faddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev.
