06 December 2019 From Stockholm to space: the Nobel Prizes for Physics 2019, Michael Mayor and Didier Queloz, and the Nobel Prize for Chemistry Stanley Whittingham, are the protagonists of an exceptional 'encounter' with Luca Parmitano and Jessica Meyer, in connection with the space station ESA. A link streamed live on ESA's web TV this afternoon, during Nobel week, the week of events taking place in Stockholm ahead of the awarding of the "graduate" scientists this year.

The findings of the three Nobel scientists were crucial to the work of the astronauts on the space station. This year the Nobel Prize for Physics went to the understanding of the structure and history of the universe and to the discovery of the first exoplanet in orbit around a star similar to our Sun. Exoplanets are at the center of the Cheops mission, which will start on December 17th.
