The Palestinian Presidency condemned the arrest by Israel of the crews of Palestine TV operating in Jerusalem yesterday, and considered it "part of the scheme to impose control on the Holy City."

"These violations would not have taken place had it not been for the encouragement that the Israeli government took from the American administration, which moved its embassy to Jerusalem and considered it the capital of the State of Israel," the presidency said in a statement published by the official Palestinian News Agency.

The Presidency called on the international community to raise its voice and take the necessary positions to "protect the remainder of the peace process and force the occupation government to stop its continuing violations of the Palestinian people, specifically in occupied Jerusalem."

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate also condemned the arrest of Israel by the staff of the Palestine TV office in Jerusalem, affirming that it was "proceeding with its legal procedures in the international judiciary against the occupation authorities and its crimes against the Palestinian media."

The Palestinian Public Radio and Television Authority condemned the detention of its staff in East Jerusalem, and the confiscation of its work equipment. A statement issued by the authority said that Palestine TV reporter, the presenter of a local program, and two photographers, from two different locations in East Jerusalem, were arrested during their journalistic work.

They were released after hours, and they received notifications "not to work with Palestine TV for 15 days, with a daily guarantee of 2000 shekels (about $ 570) in case of a violation of that," according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa). And in Gaza, a Palestinian popular committee estimated yesterday that the Strip’s economy incurred monthly losses in the amount of $ 100 million, due to the continuation of the Israeli blockade imposed 12 years ago. The People's Committee to Face the Siege on Gaza said in a statement that "the direct and indirect monthly losses of the economic sector (industrial, commercial, agricultural, and contracting sectors) in the Gaza Strip increased significantly at the end of 2019, to reach about 100 million dollars per month, due to the Israeli blockade."
