The incident was discovered this summer when two mail parcels addressed to two different recipients in Trollhättan and Årjäng were seized at a post terminal in Skåne. In the packages, which contained water purification products from Germany, drugs were also well hidden. Customs officials discovered 9 kilos of amphetamine in one package and 10,000 tablets of MDMA as well as 8,000 LSD drops in the other.

One of the biggest additions this year

The Customs Administration's investigation shows that the suspects, who are between 36 and 43 years old, are residents of Ljungskile, Trollhättan and Årjäng. The suspect's principal's home has been used for handling, packaging and distribution of drugs, and several house drugs were seized during a house search in his home.

The Customs Administration states that the seizure is one of the larger this year.

"New ways to smuggle drugs"

The investigation shows that the four suspects received 26 shipments from Germany during the autumn 2018 to summer 2019 period.

"The criminal networks are constantly developing new ways of smuggling drugs to avoid detection, but we are also refining our control methods to combat crime," says Marcus Carlsson, head of the Customs Crime Unit in Gothenburg.

Can give jail

In a conviction, the principal risks at least six years in prison. The trial will start on December 11 at Vänersborg District Court.

The crime classification for the suspected principal is particularly serious drug smuggling and serious drug crime. The other three persons are suspected of drug trafficking. Today, prosecution is being brought before Vänersborg District Court.
