The project aims to create a hub for mountain biking and cycling tourism in the area around the Southern Mountain Outdoor Recreation Center. Starting in 2020, three-year mountain biking tracks will be constructed in the area around the southern mountain. There will be exercise courses, so-called "flow courses" and also an XCO course, the type of racing course used in Olympic contexts.

The bike lanes are paid for with tax assets. Sundsvall Municipality is investing eight million, Region Västernorrland 1.9 million and now Tillväxtverket goes in with just over nine million. About twenty associations and companies also invest money and working hours.

- Very happy! It is important to invest in leisure activities for people to want to visit and live in Sundsvall, and as cycling is growing in popularity all the time, this is a venture that is just right in time, says Niklas Evaldsson, chairman of the Culture and Leisure Committee in a press release .

The project also includes business development so that companies in the area can find business models that fit the cyclists' needs.
