The Almedals Week, or the Democracy Week in Gotland, has been successful in attracting people to meet and talk about social and democracy issues for decades.

Learn from each other

Over the years, other countries have also taken notice and developed their own democracy papers. Now a joint association has been created: the Democracy Festival Association.

- Together we can, for example, seek money to develop parts. Right now we are looking at whether, for example, you can make an evaluation model that allows you to look at the actual effects of a democracy festival. We can do this because we cooperate and can seek money from different places, ”says Mia Stuhre, project manager for the Almedals Week.

Perfect place

Meeting and exchanging ideas is an important ingredient in the association.

- We can learn from the mistakes and successes of the other countries. This is a perfect place for it, ”says Kaspar Tammist, director of the Arvamus Festival in Estonia.
