Google is working on a feature for its map application that highlights clearly illuminated streets at night.

The new function, called "lighting", aims to make night travel safer by helping you avoid streets with poor or no illumination, and well-lit streets will be highlighted in yellow.

There are currently no images for this feature and it works, as it is still under development. There is also no confirmed information as to whether the feature will be available worldwide or will be limited to specific regions. Another part of the missing information is how Google intends to obtain street lighting data, or update the service?

Two years ago, the company incorporated SOS rescue alerts directly into the Maps app to guide users away from natural disasters.

In June, Maps introduced the "Stay Safer" feature in India, which informs users if their driver is off track.
