It was Heat Landmen who became the first convicted football hooligans in the country as early as 1919 when Karlskogas supporters smashed with and persecuted the opposing team and beat the referee unconscious.

- The event received a civil-rights aftermath with fines, but above all a harsh punishment from the football association that shut down both Karlskoga IF and their sports ground for a year, says the football book's author Håkan Kamp.

Valuable history writing

The story is one of many in the new book about Värmland's football history, but of course it is mostly about football itself, clubs in and with adversity, profiles and events. Annelie Larsson at Värmlands Fotbollförbund thinks it is a valuable historical writing.

- There will be a lot of "aha", but there will also be a lot of "this I did not know", says Annelie Larsson.

Arvika and Karlstad first

Football came to Värmland in the 1890s, to Arvika and Karlstad. The first football pitch should have been on Malmtorget in the district of Klara in Karlstad.

Värmland's football association was formed in 1918

The 60's are described as the great times for warm-hearted football on the men's side, mainly through Degerfors, and the late 80's and on the women's side through the Mallbacken.

Dominant clubs are shifting

When writing history, Håkan Kamp was mainly struck by how clubs have changed.

- These clubs that dominate in recent times did not dominate at all in the childhood of warm football, but there were usually completely different clubs, which may not even exist today, says Håkan Kamp.
