Real Madrid striker Eden Hazard suffers from a "microfracture" in the right ankle and will probably miss the Clasico against FC Barcelona, announced Thursday his club.

"After the examinations carried out on our player Eden Hazard (...) as part of the follow-up of his perimalleolar contusion of the right leg, an incomplete microfracture was diagnosed in this same part of the body." We remain waiting for the evolution of this injury, "Real Madrid said in a statement.

Hazard was forced to relinquish his place in the 68th minute against Paris SG in the Champions League (2-2) on November 26, after twisting his ankle trying to escape Thomas Meunier's mark.

The absence of the Belgian was first estimated at about ten days.

Although the club does not specify the new duration of unavailability of its N.7, its presence at Clasico, scheduled for December 18 at 20:00 is seriously threatened. Hazard was seen on crutches earlier this week at a Real Madrid team meal.

The Belgian could therefore be absent until 2020, after the Christmas break. The Spanish press mentions an absence of four to six weeks.

Marcelo's presence at Clasico is also seriously questioned. The merengue club also announced that its Brazilian side suffered from a "left calf muscle injury", without advancing the duration of unavailability.

Real Madrid will resume the championship in Getafe on January 4, before flying to Saudi Arabia where they will play the new Spanish Supercup format, starting with Valencia in the semifinals on August 8.
