Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash said that the UAE looks forward to the Riyadh summit with optimism and hope, as it is a summit that derives its importance from the weight and strategic weight of the site and place.

Gargash said in a tweet yesterday, on his official account on the social networking site «Twitter»: «We believe in the role of brotherly Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arab firm, and with him our firm commitment to the success of the GCC march in a time of dispersion and anxiety».

He added that the UAE's commitment to the Gulf institutional bloc is deep in its vision to stabilize the region and prosperity.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Abdullatif Al Zayani, announced last Sunday that His Highness the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will hold the 40th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh on Tuesday, 10 December 2019, under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Zayani pointed out that the Ministerial Council will hold its preparatory meeting for the Gulf Summit at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh, on Monday, the ninth of December 2019.

He said that the leaders will discuss a number of important issues to enhance cooperation and integration among the member states in various political, defense, security, economic and social fields, in addition to studying regional and international political developments, the security situation in the region and their repercussions on the security and stability of the GCC states.

Al-Zayani expressed his confidence that the 40th Summit of the GCC leaders will come up with constructive decisions that will strengthen the Gulf cohesion, deepen the cohesion, cooperation and integration among the member states and consolidate the pillars of this blessed Council.
