Before Eva-Lotta Karlsson took over as principal in 2017, almost 28 percent of the students had approved grades. In each class there were illiterates who could not read or write.

Took help of scientists

In addition, the school struggled with high staff turnover in management. Within 24 months, the school had seven principal changes. Then Vice-President Eva-Lotta Karlsson took the help of researchers at Linnaeus University.

- When you start working at a school as it was then, you have to think about what are the success factors in Swedish school today, says Eva-Lotta Karlsson.
