CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's public prosecutor said on Friday it had opened a wide-ranging investigation into a rolling video showing a student suicide from the top of Cairo's 187-meter tower.

According to the Egyptian News Agency "Egyptian Public Prosecutor Hamada al-Sawy announced the conduct of extensive investigations into the publication of part of the recordings of surveillance machines in the Tower of Cairo, and the incident of suicide student," adding, "Prosecutor will announce all the details in an independent statement once the investigation is over."

Local media described the incident as "shocking" and said it had alarmed and enraged large segments of young people on social media platforms, drawing attention to the importance of psychotherapy for depression.

For its part, Russia website quoted "security and judicial sources" that the video leaks will be held accountable "for harm to the public interest and the promotion of rumors without understanding and awareness, and blaming the officials, while the suicide itself is caused by family failures."

He attributed a number of Facebook pioneers messages to the suicide youth sent to the site "openly" without showing his name, and said, "Peace be upon you, Dr. Ahmed, I am a student in one of the faculties of engineering, decided after 5 years of college I unfortunately committed suicide, minimum de Comedy Oi, Embareh I was patrick (mocked) on those who committed suicide, and I never imagined that I will stay on their place.

But opposition media talked about political reasons behind the psychological pressure on the young man and caused his suicide, especially as he is known for his excellence during the years of study at the Faculty of Engineering.

The injustice is the real reason for the suicide of Nader, his brother Mohammed Nasser, an officer in the Egyptian army, was arrested on charges of joining a terrorist group and leaking military news, two years ago, and put him in the military prison and prevent his family from visiting.

"Why did the attorney general order an investigation into the leak of the engineering student's suicide video, and did not investigate other recent videos of suicides under the wheels of the subway?"

The incident of suicide of the young man after many suicides for economic and emotional reasons, most of which occurred at the subway stations, in recent times, and the suicide of the tower is not the first suicide of a person from the highest tower in Cairo in recent years, where three young men committed suicide from the same place for family and psychological reasons 2012, 2015 and 2018.
