Of the 61 nominations received, five finalists were selected. Botkyrkabyggen, Hedemora municipality, Municipal, SVT sports and so on: Region Värmland.

The nomination states that Region Värmland “incorporates gender equality into the work for the region to develop, grow and become attractive. Leadership and communication move companies, municipalities and workplaces throughout Värmland towards increased equality ”.

Perhaps the foremost example of how the region has worked with gender equality is the manual "Schyst communications" which was produced in 2014 and has been printed in seven editions. The book is still being ordered from organizations throughout the country and has become a precursor to similar manuals.

- It has been an easy and simple message to take. We have raised good examples, rather than debt. This has made people think it is fun to work on this issue. This is perhaps the most important factor in our success, says Marianne Nilsson.

Equal decisions

Next, the political committees will start with so-called gender mainstreaming. This means that the gender equality perspective - how both men and women will be affected - must be lifted at every stage, in all decisions.

- We service personnel must produce better documentation. Then it will really have an impact on people, says Marianne Nilsson.

The winner of the Swedish Equality Prize will be appointed by an external jury and presented on February 5, 2020.
