The place of the two founders of the well-known search engine, reports the 'BBC', will be taken by Sundar Pichai, already CEO of Google.

In a joint letter, Page and Brin announced that they will remain "actively involved as board members, shareholders and co-founders", stressing that the time has come to "take on the role of proud parents, offering advice and love but no daily hassle ".

"We have never been the ones holding on to leadership roles when we think there is a better way to run the company. And Alphabet and Google no longer need two CEOs and a president," they wrote in the letter, highlighting how " there is no better person "than Pichai to lead the company.

Born in India 47 years ago, where he studied engineering, Pichai continued his studies in the United States at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania before joining Google in 2004.
