Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered two years ago in Malta while investigating corruption in her country. After several resignations in the government in recent days and the arrest of an important businessman, Yorgen Fenech, who would be involved in the assassination, the family has just filed a complaint in France, with the association Reporters Without borders.

One of Malta's richest men, Yorgen Fenech , was indicted on Saturday (November 30th) by a court in Valletta for aiding and abetting murder in the investigation into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in 2017. A complaint for " complicity in assassination " and " corruption " with the National Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor of Paris has also been filed. The businessman, who has pleaded not guilty to this accusation and other charges related to this investigation, has activities on French territory. The journalist's family wants to know if their companies are involved.

Emmanuel Daoud's lawyer told RFI what are the ramifications of this case in France.

Yorgen Fenech, incarcerated in Malta has property in France, companies, equestrian activities in France. French justice must determine whether these companies have served directly or indirectly, either to bribe or pay for the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

RSF and the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia say they suspect that the income generated by these assets could be used to bribe the chief of staff of the Maltese Prime Minister, Keith Schembri and the Minister of Tourism Konrad Mizzi, in order to obtain a public contract , a subject on which the investigative journalist was investigating precisely when she was murdered.

The investigation into the murder in Malta of the journalist who was working on alleged cases of corruption has already led to resignations in the Maltese government. Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has announced his departure for 16 January. The family of Daphne Caruana Galizia demands his immediate departure and an investigation against him.

A survey without political interference. This is what the European Union expects from Malta in the case of the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. " We are very concerned that Mr Muscat is still in office, we are worried about the integrity of the investigation into the murder, " said liberal MEP Sophie in't Veld, head of the delegation on mission Malta in the context of the crisis related to the murder of the journalist.

The journalist was killed in the explosion of her car, trapped, in October 2017.
