A 19-year-old French student committed suicide Wednesday in Talence, near Bordeaux, on the campus of Kedge Business School, a "terrible tragedy" according to the business school that dismissed a gesture related to problems of precariousness.

"One of our 2nd year students of the EBP (European Business Program) has ended his days on campus," said the school, "which shares the pain and sadness of family, friends and relatives of the student. "

Firefighters confirmed to AFP that they were called by noon "for a fall from the 6th floor" of a campus building. The young man "died on the spot despite an attempt to revive the Smur teams," he said.

Evoking a "terrible tragedy", the school quickly dismissed "the track of student precariousness".

On November 8, Anas K., a 22-year-old student in great financial difficulty, set himself on fire in Lyon, burning at 90%, in order to challenge the public authorities about student precariousness. The gesture had sparked demonstrations.

According to Jean-Luc Faye, a member of Kedge School's Executive Committee, "We knew that this student had a psychological fragility, we were following this student, we were in touch with the family," said the head of the school. -press on the campus.

Céline Claverie, director of the campus, added that the student, whose family is from the region, "was the subject of psychological support outside (in) the city of Bordeaux. under the school ".

Mrs. Claverie introduced the young man as "a student who had rather good results" and was "involved in his schooling and was planning personal and professional project." It is impossible to say what were the determinants of his passage to the act ".

According to a source close to the investigation citing witnesses, the young man opened the window of a school rest room on the 6th floor of a modern building, where there were several students. They would have understood too late the gesture of their comrade.

"It did not happen at all because at that time everyone was going," said a member of the school's communication department.

As part of an investigation into the causes of death entrusted to the police, an autopsy was ordered by the prosecutor's office.

"Everyone is a little shocked, I went out at the lunch break and I saw a heart massage" being done, told the press Moses, master student marketing, who was coming out of an exam .

"At first, I thought it was uncomfortable and then coming back from the bakery, we saw that the body was completely covered with a survival blanket," he said.

The management immediately devoted itself to receiving and accompanying the relatives and classmates of the student. Classes were canceled in the afternoon but exams were maintained in some courses. The campus will operate normally on Thursday.

A psychological cell was set up on campus as well as by telephone.
