In addition, President Trump expressed his optimistic view that NATO's relationship with Russia was “doing it well,” President Macron said, “Progress is needed over the conflict in Ukraine.” The difference in position became clear as the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict involving Russia was a prerequisite for improving the relationship.

Putin President criticized NATO expansion
