The overindebted Africa? With Alassane Ouattara, Macky Sall and Kristalina Georgieva

The "African Debate" brings together an exceptional platform to evoke the question of the indebtedness of African states. Alain Foka receives, in Dakar, Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, Alassane Dramane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Kristalina Georgieva, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Jean-Hervé Lorenzi, President from the Circle of Economists.

At a time when the whole planet presents Africa as the new Eldorado, the main growth pole, a crucial question arises: has this continent not been over-indebted? Can Africa still finance its development when more than 40% of budget revenues are spent on debt repayment ? How much room for maneuver to progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? And at the same time, are there other ways to finance its development?

Alain Foka poses these questions to four prestigious guests: the President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall, his Ivorian counterpart Alassane Dramane Ouattara, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and President of the Circle of Economists Jean-Hervé Lorenzi.
