Thursday is a very complicated day for many French people. Public transport, rail and air will indeed be extremely disrupted on December 5, day of the big strike against the pension reform. Europe 1 takes stock of traffic forecasts, announced Tuesday evening by the SNCF or by the RATP.

• At SNCF: 90% of trains canceled

Users of the SNCF must prepare for a day of galleys. 90% of the trains will indeed be canceled Thursday, according to the direction of the railway company. On the TGV network, the Atlantic and South-East routes will be the most affected, with only one train out of ten. There will be one TGV in six on the East, North and Ouigo, one Eurostar out of two and two out of three Thalys. No intersector TGV (province-province) will roll. The users of the TERs will be even more affected by the strike, since only 3% of regional trains will circulate on average (from 0 to 8% depending on the region). The most affected regions will be Brittany and Occitania. Finally, 90% of Intercités will stay at the depot.

• In Paris and Île-de-France: 11 closed metro lines, very few RERs

On September 13, a strike at the RATP had almost paralyzed Paris and Île-de-France. The day of Thursday looks even worse for the Parisians, with traffic "extremely disturbed". 11 metro lines will be completely closed, while only lines 1 and 14 will be running normally.

On the side of the RER, the situation looks also chaotic. RER A and B, which are used every day by hundreds of thousands of people, will run partially and only during peak hours (half of the RER A and one third of the RER B will circulate). On the bus network, one third of the traffic will be insured. Tram traffic will also be very disrupted.

• By plane: 20% of flights canceled

20% of flights have been canceled on French territory, announced Tuesday evening the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). Air France, for its part, has canceled about 30% of its domestic flights, and 15% of its medium-haul flights. Last minute delays and cancellations are not excluded, warned the airline.
