US ratifies North Macedonia accession protocol to NATO

“I am pleased to announce that the United States has ratified the protocol on the entry of Northern Macedonia into NATO. Another step towards welcoming Northern Macedonia as NATO’s 30th ally! ”Pompeo wrote on Twitter.

In May, the leader of Northern Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, called accession to NATO and the EU the country's priorities.

In October, the US Senate adopted a protocol on the accession of Northern Macedonia to NATO.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called the timing of the entry of Northern Macedonia into the alliance.
