The fountain house in Nyköping, which conducts activities for the mentally disabled, is expected to have its municipal contribution reduced by SEK 400,000 next year. Nyköping Municipality believes that the business has been too expensive, and the opposition is raging against the reduction.

- We are strongly critical of this reduction that the Social Democratic leadership in Nyköping Municipality intends to do. This will have devastating consequences for a well-functioning business where a great many people get help, says Marie Gilstig, 2nd Deputy Chairman of the Board of Health and Care Services.

The business can be closed down

According to the clubhouse manager, there is concern among the members of the Fontänhuset.

- It's worrying for all of us, we have to move away from this house. But the prices are not cheap if you are to have an equivalent business. Or if the staff is going away, we are only four, then we will be three. So the business will not work, says Carina Johnsson, clubhouse manager Fontänhuset Nyköping.

Want to continue as before

Sofia Amloh (s) is the chair of the Board of Health and Care Services and does not agree that the quality is at risk of deterioration.

- We want to keep the Fontänhuset just like the functioning business it is today and for all the time a dialogue on the issue. We have looked at several possible premises that will be suitable for the business.
