KABUL (Reuters) - Fourteen children were killed in Libya on Sunday night by bombings of retired brigades of the United Arab Emirates' Khalifa Hifter and other emirates, while the Tobruk-based government said it looked forward to normalization with Israel if the Palestinian issue was resolved.

According to the Media Center for Operation Volcano of Wrath, nine children were killed in an aerial bombardment of a plane belonging to retired Major General Khalifa Hifter on a residential neighborhood in Al-Sawani area (south of Tripoli). .

Spokesman for the Government of National Accord (GNA) Mohamed Gannounou said that the Wefaq forces forced Hifter's forces to flee after they tried to advance towards the Sawani axis.

He added that UAE drones bombed a residential neighborhood in Al-Sawani area, killing and wounding civilians. He said that Hifter aircraft launched two raids on the bridges of Zahra and Suani; resulting in material damage to the infrastructure.

The Ministry of Interior of the Government of Al-Wefaq denounced the aerial bombardment that targeted Al-Sawani and Um Al-Rabnab areas, describing it as an integrated war crime.

The ministry said in a statement that the bombing was carried out by aircraft belonging to what it called "war criminal" Khalifa Hifter, and called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards these acts, which target civilians and terrorized them.

Mitiga Airport
In a related context, the Ministry of Communications of the Libyan government reconciliation agreement on December 12 this date to restart the airport Mitiga international, after a stoppage that lasted for months.

The ministry said in a statement that a meeting was held at Mitiga International Airport, chaired by the Minister of Transportation Milad Matouk, and the head of the Airport Authority Mohammed Beit Al Mal, and the Director General of the airport Lotfi Al-Tabib.

She added that the meeting discussed the latest developments of the projects implemented at the airport, and the resumption of air traffic, and it was agreed to reactivate the airport from 12 December.

The statement pointed out that the Libyan and African airlines will resume their flights starting from the specified date, while the rest of the carriers will start work in succession, and gradually.

The authorities in Tripoli announced in early September the closure of Mitiga airport after being subjected to repeated missile shelling by the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter, and decided to transfer all flights to Misrata airport.

On the political front, the foreign minister of the Libyan government loyal to Haftar Abdul Hadi al-Huwaij said he hoped Libya could establish normal relations with Israel if the Palestinian issue was resolved.

During his visit to Paris, he added that Libya is a member of the Arab League and is committed to the UN resolutions and to supporting the rights of peoples, including the rights of the Palestinian people.
