This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to Manturov, the new law equalizes the right of Russian and foreign software to access consumers.

The Minister noted that at present only foreign applications are preinstalled on gadgets.

“We believe that with the competent organization of the process this will not lead to an increase in the cost for buyers of gadgets,” Manturov said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on electronic equipment.

The list of applications and devices on which they will be installed will be determined by the Cabinet.

The authors of the bill indicated that it would concern smartphones, computers and televisions with the Smart TV function.

The law will enter into force on July 1, 2020.
