“I absolutely support your thesis that rhetoric should be avoided here, which runs counter to the fundamental principles approved by both parties and enshrined in the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Lavrov confirmed Russia's interest in fulfilling all the agreements in the framework of negotiations between the representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Vienna and Moscow.

“They are being gradually implemented and I hope that the upcoming meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers this week will allow consolidating these processes,” he noted.

At the same time, the Russian minister admitted that much more needs to be done to achieve a long-term political settlement.

Earlier it was reported that Lavrov would visit Baku on December 2-3 to meet with Aliyev and the country's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

It is expected that on December 4, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will hold talks in Bratislava on the Karabakh issue.
